Events

Mike Kelly Foundation and Home LA

We are thrilled to share that we are partnering with The Mike Kelly Foundation and HomeLA for an extraordinary event called Redrawing the Rancho on November 8-9. HomeLA will showcase a site-specific performance and installation at the Rowland Mansion, curated by Chloe Flores along with artists Nao Bustamante, Victoria Marks, Rosa Rodríguez-Frazier, and Eva Aguila (featured below).

This collaboration aims to actively disrupt the prevailing monocultural interpretations of historic sites, shining a light on the diverse human experiences of those who have called the Rowland Mansion and La Puente Valley Rancho their home. With artistic practices deeply engaged in the complexities of identity, these artists aim to produce work that questions and challenges dominant societal narratives. Their art will bridge historical, personal, and collective experiences.

By drawing from the Rowland Mansion archive, conducting independent research, gathering community feedback, and reflecting on personal histories, they will present alternative narratives that capture the intricate realities of early Southern California settlement.

Events

Annual Barbecue

The Rowland BBQ is our biggest fundraising event of the year. Bring the family and eat a great rib eye steak with beans and salad. Take  a  tour  of  the  Dibble Roundhouse  Museum  and  the  John  Rowland  Mansion..  Enjoy  the  grounds  and  visit  our  newly nstalled native walnut  trees.

The picture reads,” Bull’s heads were seasoned with watercress and mint ,wrapped in wet cloth and burlap, then roasted overnight in a hot covered pit”.

Our next Annual Barbecue will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2026
